UPDATE 11/9/16: The American Uprising has begun, mercifully minus the Clintons and the Obamas.
Whatever the outcome of this election, one thing is certain: something must change. We are losing America to a bloated Federal bureaucracy run by an entrenched class of career politicians and powerful interests determined to create a majority of citizens dependent upon them for their very survival. It appears that more and more Americans are becoming Progressively like freed slaves trudging voluntarily back to the plantation where they are not required to provide the basics of life for themselves. This nightmare is one foretold by Tocqueville: “The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.”
He also said, going right to the heart of the matter, “Americans are so enamored of equality that they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom.”
So which is it: do we Americans want to be equal in slavery or unequal in freedom? Understanding that freedom overrides all, let this be just the beginning of the road back from the nightmare of Progressivism’s paralyzing “equality” to a vital life of rough and robust freedom. United in spirit with millions of other individuals fired by the blessings of freedom, one can never be a slave.
Fred, my hat’s off to you. You somehow can keep a positive frame of mind in these troubling times.
Thanks, Chris. One must look ahead and beyond the inevitable barriers. Always a challenge. Let’s hope for a positive outcome on this one. If not, all the more reason to behave like free men, not slaves.
