Real people suffering real deprivation are not inanimate statistics, but poverty in contemporary America is no longer the Dickensian/Dustbowl degradation enthused Statists claim. Most Americans have food, shelter, clothing, cars, cellphones, medical care, educational opportunities, freedom…and welfare/food stamp/unemployment benefits without end. In the old days, public benefits were just a temporary helping hand to proud people on their way to personal independence. Now shameless dependence is a way of life. Today, the rich get rich and the poor get richer.
