Happily, the good don’t always die young. This Sunday, God willing, Stan “The Man” Musial, who was not only one of baseball’s greatest hitters but one of the nicest guys to ever wear cleats, will turn 90. He lives independently with Lillian, his bride of 71 years, in St. Louis where they are beloved.
Obama’s Slave Ship
When I was young and living in Manhattan, I saw an Off-Off-Broadway play called Slave Ship. It was an experience I’ll never forget.
Unbeknownst to me, the performance was conducted in total darkness. The audience was subjected for one very long hour to the harrowing sounds of slavery. There were blood-curdling screams, whippings, and more.
Given that we were trapped in pitch blackness, the audience was held captive like the slaves, compelled to experience the same terror, helplessness, and despair. This was undoubtedly the intention of the play.
Soaking the Rich
Liberals have an amazing ability to overlook the obvious. This is particularly true when it comes to deficits and debt. Their proposals to tax their way to solvency is akin to proposing to rescue a sinking ship by moving the water to another deck. The left imagine they can bail out the boat by soaking the rich. Simply stopping the flood of deficit spending somehow escapes them.
