The political as well as economic environment today is far removed from the days of previous shut-downs. In the mid-90s, the rare similarities to today were a Democrat in office dueling with Conservatives in Congress on the heels of liberal spending and failure to produce government budgets. What has changed is the birth of the Tea Party, a citizenry highly disgruntled with the man in the Oval Office (to include his own constituency), and a deficit as well as national debt unmatched in the history of the country.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, R-Texas, and Iowan Chuck Grassley, the ranking Republican member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, are taking action against frivolous lawsuits.”The Lawsuit Abuse Reduction Act, which we introduced Wednesday, evens the playing field by imposing monetary sanctions against attorneys who file frivolous suits,” the duo writes on Politico. “The bill simply says that cases brought to court must be based on facts and reasonable interpretations of the law.”

No One Should Be Forced to Join a Union
Even as they scream for “workers’ rights,” the one workers’ right that union bosses despise is the right to work. Big Labor and its overwhelmingly Democratic allies oppose a woman’s right to choose whether or not to join a union. Instead, they prefer that predominantly male employers and labor leaders make that choice for her.
