The “progressively” more desperate Republican establishment and the cream of crony capitalism find Common Cause! Sailing in last weekend on private, carbon-spewing jets by the score, the likes of Mitch McConell, Karl Rove, Paul Ryan, 3rd Party spoiler Bill Kristol shared brie & sherry and commiserated with the likes of Apple’s Tim Cook, Tesla Motors’ Elon Musk, Google’s Larry Page, NY Times scion Punch Sulzberger. Their kumbaya call for unity? All are joining hands in the noble pursuit of stopping Donald Trump.
Are these Boy Scout Jamboree attendees concerned about unchecked immigration, Obamacare, unfazed Muslim terrorists, Inner City racial unrest, a comatose economy, all the legacy of a President who deliberately set out to “transform” a free, vital country into a Socialist Paradise of Permanent Dependency…or are they worried about losing their own power?
Is there something about grassroots power emanating from below and not from them that’s worrying? Perhaps they’ve lost control of an electorate that really wants to take the country back…meaning…The People want to be left alone to live, work, raise their families in the autonomous safety and security that a Constitutional, pre-Obama America used to guarantee. Such a genuine populism would make politicians servants of The People again…and the New Age Plutocrats would have to drop the cronyism and really have to resume competing for The People’s business, not manipulating & monopolizing markets and making a mock of Free Enterprise.
If any of them, Left or Right, are truly concerned, perhaps they might consider rallying around Ted Cruz against Donald. Probably they’re more inclined to enable a Clinton or Sanders Presidency, the cementing onset of a permanent Welfare State where they will still have a powerless populace that looks to them for all the answers.
